- Where did the idea come from?
The idea originated in England, but like many British
inventions was not developed. It was introduced in Australia, where
the idea really took off and there, is widely used in teaching hospitals,
sports injury clinics, and by physiotherapists and osteopaths.
- What are the packs used for?
Wheateeze packs are a simple clean efficient way
to apply heat or cold to all areas of the body.
- So why apply heat or cold?
It is widely accepted in the medical world that heat
is a valuable aid to the healing process following soft tissue injury.
Similarly, a cold compress helps to slow down and halt internal bleeding
immediately after damage to soft body tissues. Once internal bleeding
is halted after 24-36 hours, application of heat to damaged areas
will speed up the healing process.
- Do the packs have any other uses?
Interestingly, Yes! & new uses keep emerging
all the time. Heat applied to an area of pain acts like an anaesthetic
on the nerve endings that relay pain messages to the brain, thereby
temporarily relieving the pain.
- What do the packs contain?
Not surprisingly they contain wheat. Top quality
wheat grown on our 1500 acre Wiltshire farm, double cleaned to extract
dust and foreign bodies. Treated to an ambient moisture level to optimise
heat retention and the re-absorption of moisture. They contain 100%
natural wheat, with no added oils, herbs or perfumes that would eventually
go rancid due to humidity and temperature fluctuations to which they
are exposed.
- How long will the packs last?
Used
as directed they will give good service
for many years.
- But wont the packs dry out?
Constant heating will reduce the packs moisture levels,
simply rectified by placing a cup of water in the microwave when re-heating
the pack.
It is a proven fact in the medical world that moist
heat will penetrate deeper and is therefore more beneficial than dry
heat.
- Can you use the packs as hot water bottles?
Yes, you can, they are more comfortable and easier
to use than a conventional rubber bottle. In the morning, the pack
will remain at body temperature whereas, a hot water bottle will be
cold and remove body heat.
- How frequently can the packs be used?
There is no limit.
- What if one has a wheat allergy?
This is not a problem simply because the wheat is
not eaten but people with medical conditions should consult their
doctor or physiotherapist.
